Hot tub slow to heat

I have a Morgan spa that I just replaced the flow thru element on because the heat would not exceed 65 but now it has taken five days to reach 98. The pump dose not seem to be putting out as strong as it used to as well, but this is also fairly new and should not be working better than it does. Could this be a pressure switch problem?

Is the heat indicator coming on when you turn up the thermostat? Have you tried removing the spa filter to see if the pump seems stronger? If the filter is old it will cause a restriction and not allow the heater to come on, the pressure switch is not getting enough flow to close.

The indicator does light for heat and I have replaced filter and it did seem to help out as far as the pressure. The heat still does not climb very fast. It climbs about one or two degrees a day. Could it be a sensor of some kind?

Do you know if the heater operates on 110V or 220V. If you are comfortable using a voltage meter we need to test for power to the heater while the heat indicator is on. If the heater operates on 220V you need to test across both power terminals and not one to ground.

It operates on 220V. I did have an electrician look at it a few months back an he said it was not getting power to both terminals and suggested changing the element. I replaced the element but have not had it tested after that to see if voltage changed at terminals. If low or no voltage then what? Just in case I need to check for something else while I have the electrician on hand.

If the voltage is low then the incoming power to the spa needs to be tested. If you have no voltage at the heater and the heat indicator light is on then it could be the circuit board. Are you getting any error messages on the display? You can have the electrian test the pressure switch but since the indicator is coming on when the thermostat is turned up not sure that would be the issue.
