The best way to know is to visit the manufactures web sites. They will show what type of sanitizers they have to offer. There are also sites out there that sell salt water systems to add onto your existing spa, I put in portable spa salt water systems. The only thing that I would caution you is your heater manifold may rust and leak. Also if you have metal escutcheons on your jets they may rust as well.<br /> Have you tried different types of sanitizers other than <a href="http://www.hottubworks.com/HotTubChemicals/">chlorine</a>? <a href="http://www.hottubworks.com/HotTubChemicals/">Bromine</a> is a common product to use if you have a problem with chlorine, another option would be a <a href="http://www.hottubworks.com/part-WNATURE2-item-hottub-mineral-sanitizer.php">Nature2 mineral system</a>. Yes this does not look like a 1993 serial number, there should be six numbers with the first designating what quarter and the second number would designate what year the spa was manufactured.
