I need to replace a relay that had broken leads on my spa circuit board. On the back of the board, the lead that I need to remove is covered in what looks like tin foil (but obviously is not)...tried to post pic but it didn't work. Anyway can I solder through that foil? What is it for?

I am not sure if you are referring to the trace that connects differnent areas or components on the circuit board but it sounds like it may be. You need to be very careful if repairing a circuit board you can cause damage to other items on the board if it is not done properly.

Finally got the pick to upload. see below. Not talking about the trace, talking about the big patch of silver foil. It is covering the lead that I'm pointing to, which needs to be removed. Thanks.

That is solder that they use to connect multiple points on the circuit board.
